I just heard these guys – WOW

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Last night in a long conversation with a hip-hop artist named Stephen Johnson, I was asked what must someone do to become the very best.  My response was rehearse.  Rehearsal time is the most important thing in the world to an artist of any genre.  The more you are committed the more places you will go.  The more you perfect your craft and hone your skills the more likely you are to fall into exceptional places and opportunities.

Have you ever noticed when a true professional is introduced how they dont hang there head in shame or become very quiet and withdrawn but, walk on stage very proud, with their head up and a smile on thier face and a presence that lets the audience know that they know what they are doing and they are aware of their surroundings and are prepared for what they are about to do.  That makes the difference.

I often review new talent and give suggestions and once worked in some of the studios in and around Nashville with artists who were preparing for a recording or performance.  You could always tell who was prepared and who was rehearsed and ready.

This is the case with this group from Italy.  Take a few minutes to sit back and notice the excitement of 3 well prepared young men and where they come from and where you may think they are going.

Incredible IL-VOLO

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

July 12, 2011

VIENNA, AUSTRIA-Brodmann Pianos has come to an exclusive agreement for Piano Social Directory to take control of its social media outlets and internet marketing strategies.

“Because of the growing demand for our products and expansion of our brand offerings, it is time to turn our everyday communication lines over to an expert in the piano business with an emphasis on marketing,” says President of Joseph Brodmann Group, Christian Hoeferl.

Piano Social Directory is a new organization headed by Ric Overton, a piano industry veteran with a new idea of marketing in today’s world. “It’s time the industry we love uses technology that is at everyone’s fingertips,” says Ric Overton, owner of PianoSD. “We utilize a combination of internet resources and social media to creatively market to future and present customers.”

The Joseph Brodmann Group came to this exclusive agreement after announcing its planned expansion in the U.S. as they continue to grow the piano branding they presently enjoy and their newest product line of luxury loud speakers. “The new expansion will necessitate a cutting-edge marketing plan,” says Hoeferl. “That is the reason we chose Ric Overton.”

Because of Brodmann’s committment to the piano industry and the music community as a whole, the already impressive quality of pianos will continue to improve along with their newest edition of loud speakers.

While Brodmann Pianos is the only piano manufacturer that Piano Social Directory will service, they do offer special packages to piano and music dealers including website design, email blasts, and search engine optimization by Max Morgan Design, along with full-blown social media solutions. Max Morgan Design has recently upgraded their web servers in order to handle the expected traffic and improve reliability. Piano Social Directory uses Max Morgan Design exclusively because of the close relationship the companies have had for several years. Max’s contemporary approach to branding, communications, and social media solutions made him the best choice for a brilliant partnership.

Hoeferl and Overton have a desire to “rediscover the pleasure of music appreciation” and will combine their latest expansions in the United States.

Some of you may remember Maxwell Steer who visited us at PianoSD last year for a teacher workshop and played for us and spoke to us about teaching in the U.K.

I have kept in contact with Maxwell and was delighted to find out that he had put on YouTube a performance with Richard Black.  I felt you would be thrilled to hear this wonderful performance and decided to post this for you to see.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have

The new PianoSD begins to take shape

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

PianoSD was a piano showroom in San Diego California for a few years.  After its closure last year there was some discussion as to what should be done with the website.  A brand new idea was created to form the Piano Social Directory with all of the information that was needed from around the globe for people to find inormation about the right teacher, tuner, school, artist, etc.

I am hoping that PianoSD (The Piano Social Directory) will be just that solution that people are looking for when considering anything at all regarding Pianos and/or Organs.  The plan is NOT to have a showroom but, a website that brings the entire community together.

Stay tuned to see the changes as they appear at I hope you find this a useful tool.  It may take several months to complete.

In other news, I traveled north yesterday and visited San Simeon, Cambria, Cayoucos and Morro Bay, Ca.  It was such a fun day.  The sights of the coast of California are some of the prettiest sights I have ever seen.  However, I made a stop that I have to pass along to you.

This place is incredible.  I have a passion for two things in life.  One is pianos of course and the second is cookies.  Yes, COOKIES.  These folks have the best cookies I have ever eaten. Let me explain.

For several years I have traveled.  I was the regional manager for Baldwin Pianos for several years and at one point had 28 states as a territory.  I have tried cookies in every stop.  My favorite is Oatmeal/Raisin and I have made it a quest to find the best Oatmeal/Raisin cookie I can find.  Last year I found it.  It is on the corner of Gilman and 6th.  Incredible Oatmeal/Raisins.  Sheer perfection.  In a store called Jimmy Bean’s.

The problem with any of  the places I have been is that they would have a good Oatmeal/Raisin and an “okay” sugar cookie or choclate cookie.

I have made the most amazing discovery at Brown Butter Cookie Company. Every single one of their cookies were delicious.  One of them, called the Sea Salt cookies were incredible. ABSOLUTELY, UNDENIABLY INCREDIBLE.  I would say “PERFECT”.  Order some TODAY.

You might be asking yourself what does this have to do with pianos.  Well, everything and nothing.  If you eat one of these you will play better AND if you dont – you wont care.

Hope to see you soon.
