As I have stated in a couple of posts I have been moving in a new direction. In the upcoming months you will be seeing AND “hearing” more from me as we begin to explore new technology. The Network we are building is going to move in a new and exciting direction.
As we embrace some of the newer technology offerings we hope to spark some new interest in groups that have never been involved with music. Each part of The Network has given their careers to improving teaching and appreciation of music. We are hoping to raise that back to a position that people will not only pay closer attention to music but participate.
I am looking forward to the new blogs, ustream, podcasts and more in the next few months.
More on this coming soon.
If you are looking for a piano in San Diego County, if you are looking for a piano in La Jolla or a piano in Carlsbad. Look no further than www.SorrentoValleyMusic.com in Sorrento Valley area of San Diego. In addition to pianos they also carry a full line of guitars, violins and sheet music.
As you are enjoying recorded music for the Holidays, www.RosemaryBaileyMusic.com has some of the best Holiday music around. Log in today to find some of the last remaining CDs.
Lastly, thanks to Max of www.MaxMorganDesign.com for his assistance in growing the social media and outreach with a full vision of where we are headed.

I have been busy blogging for some folks and trying to make their websites grow. I will begin soon explaining in detail the “what is” question of social media and the “why” of social media for www.MaxMorganDesign.com . So many people don’t understand, I think I can explain.
www.RosemaryBaileyMusic.com has certainly grown in the past few weeks and the sell of her CDs have been very good.
www.SorrentoValleyMusic.com has begun growing and is doing good. Their sales are starting to pick up as a result of more people finding out about them and that is a very good thing.
We are looking forward to a GREAT Christmas Holiday season. Nice to focus on positive things. This has been a very tough year for so many people, myself included, that its great to see things beginning to pick up.
Unitl next time.

I wanted to take a couple of seconds to thank some people for thier services to the music community.
Rosemary Bailey of www.RosemaryBaileyMusic.com has given her time and talents to people all over the country. Rosemary’s talent is incredible and she shows it in every performance. From Broadway to Jazz, Classical to Rock and Roll or Country and Gospel she puts forth her talent to the “nth” degree night after night.
Most recently she has done a Christmas project that is really something else. What makes her so amazing is that not only is she so talented but, she also has a very unique gift of interpretation and understanding of what the music should be saying. Her most recent Christmas project really shows off her connection to her audience and to her talent. Understanding her fans and what they expect, what “should” be played musically and what the song writer intended. Rosemary can seamlessly accomplish this without causing confusion to the person listening and is still able to deliver the song in its intended form.
I hope you will take the time to go to her website and hear a few clips of her Christmas CD
I spoke with her this afternoon and she only has a few left so, log on to her website and order today.
The other group I want to thank is the guys at Sorrento Valley Music
www.SorrentoValleyMusic.com . Jon and Rebecca have really stepped out onto a limb during very challenging times to open their new store. They have such a passion for the business that they will be successful. The other thing is their love for music education. Rebecca has a very exciting teaching program and is working daily with her students to help them with their education and moving to the next level.
They have a full line of pianos, guitars, violins, music accessories and printed music and are working to expand their selection. They are being very smart with their direction and taking small steps to improve every day. So if you are looking for a piano in San Diego, Guitar in San Diego, Violin in San Diego or printed music or accessories look no further than Sorrento Valley Music.
Recently they decided to supply the San Diego Gay Mens Chorus a piano for their upcoming concert at the Birch North Park Theatre on December 11th and 12th. Sorrento Valley Music has sent them an Estonia that has been perfectly voiced and regulated and is in tip top condition. This is no small feat and if you know about Estonia you know just how difficult it can be to supply for an event like this.
My hat is off to Rosemary Bailey and Sorrento Valley Music for their dedication to the music industry, music and music education.
Lastly, this coming weekend is an anniversary of sorts. The San Diego Gay Mens Chorus at
www.SDGMC.org is having a concert this weekend. If you have not already purchased your tickets you should do it as soon as you can because the it is almost a sold out performance.
Hope you are celebrating during the holidays somewhere safe and sharing a great time with friends and family.

Over the past few weeks I have been working with Max Morgan of Max Morgan Design www.MaxMorganDesign.com along with Sorrento Valley Music at www.SorrentoValleyMusic.com and Rosemary Bailey at www.RosemaryBaileyMusic.com . We have been putting together a network that will help to enhance the traffic to our websites.
www.MaxMorganDesign.com has been assiting our media projects from the beginning. Max has really helped me understand the social media world and blogging and multi-media through the internet. I have helped him understand retail and the music business as well as the piano business over all. It has been a real pleasure having been associated with him.
www.SorrentoValleyMusic.com and www.PianoSD.com have been friends for many years. I have really enjoyed working with Jonell and Rebecca. Their commitment to the music business and music education is incredible. This couple has really made a difference.
The latest addition to “The Network” is www.RosemaryBaileyMusic.com . This is another great lady of the music industry. I am not going to reveal the number of years that she has been involved in music but, I will reveal that she is one of the first ladies of music in our industry. She worked as a performer with the great Hammond Organ company for years as well as Technics and more recently with the famous Roland Atelier Organs. You should visit her website and find some of her CDs especially her Christmas CD. Its the greatest.
As things begin to come together I will keep you informed and you will be amazed at “The Network” we start to put together.

I have had several calls about cross country shipping and what to do with the piano. Hopefully, I might be able to give you some insight as to what we look at.
We do cross country moves in conjunction with another company that actually takes the piano from our storage facility here at PianoSD.com in Mission Valley in San Diego, Ca. and delivers it to the location that it is going to. Here’s how it works:
You have a need to move your piano from here to another state or a distance that is further than our normal Southern California route. Precision Piano Moving at www.precisionpianomoving.net goes and picks your piano up and brings it to our facility here. We prearrange a pick up with a company called Walter Piano Transport out of Indiana.
Walter Piano Transport guys are the only guys in the country that I would trust my most valuable possession (my piano) or (your piano)to travel a long distance. They blanket your piano carefully and secure it in their trailers that are designed to move pianos only. They do not move cars, furniture or motorcycles, only pianos. Thier website is www.WalterPianoTransport.com and the ladies are Hope and Tina and can most definitely answer your questions and take care of you.
Once they pick the piano up from our facility it is then carried either directly to its destination or to a piano moving service in your area where they can trust it to be offloaded and delivered in a timely and safe manner.
Moving in a long haul trailer that is packed with all types of furniture, and other belongings can be quite difficult on a piano particularly when the people that are moving are inexperienced. Moving is never easy but especially when it comes to a piano. All kinds of tragic stories come to the office here about people getting pianos that have been scratched, damaged or harmed in some way. The easiest, cheapest and best alternative is to hire a professional.
Local moves have certainly been addressed on our blog before but as a reminder PianoSD.com moves pianos in Southern California from Carlsbad, San Marcos, Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla and even as far north as Los Angeles. We move with a company that is called Precision Piano Moving at www.PrecisionPianoMoving.net they also work in tandem with our tuner Paul McCloud at Accutone Piano Tuning www.pianoservsd.com to tune the piano after delivery. Walter Transport is our only choice on long distant moves at www.WalterPianoTransport.com
Stop by and see us sometime, we would love to meet you.

For several months the San Diego Cello Choir has been using the PianoSD Performance Hall. I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed hearing them perfect thier craft. It is such a joy to hear these fine musicians that travel as far as La Jolla,Rancho Santa Fe, San Marcos, Carlsbad, Chula Vista and yes even some of the talent is from San Diego.
Many of the folks that meet with us in Mission Valley are employees and members of the San Diego Opera as well as the San Diego Symphony and several other leading perfomance groups in San Diego. Each week they join us for 2 -3 hours of rehearsal time as they work towards a goal of putting together a performance at a venue that has yet to be determined.

The San Diego Cello Choir
If you will look close you may recognize somme of these talented folks that are working hard to bring you a performance that you won’t soon forget. Keep watching my blog and events for a time and place that you will have the pleasure of hearing these guys under the watchful eyes and skilled hands of William Zauscher. If you have a chance, drop me a line and I will explain how you can either be a part of this group or perhaps simply get you in to hear a rehearsal.
Thank you to Tom Czwornog for bringing music in a different way to PianoSD.com and to the people of San Diego.
Drop by and see us sometime, we would love to meet you.

I am very excited that we are heading into book two with our Tuesday night group class here at PianoSD.com in Mission Valley, San Diego, Ca.

Our group class has begun to grow and tonight we are adding two more to the class. This is gonna be fun. So far we have taken adult men that have never played before in their lives and taught them how to play a few songs. They come every Tuesday night and actually look forward to the class.
We are growing the piano group classes and as it increases even more people are having fun. This month we introduced the PianoSD School of Music so I know that the summer is going to produce some amazing students and talent.
If you decide you want to particpate in learning-”stop dreaming and start playing” We CAN help you.
Stop by and say hello sometime, we would love to meet you.

In yesterday’s blog I discussed piano tuning, today I thought I might touch on regulating a piano.
Generally speaking, regulation has little to do with the tone of the piano but, more to do with the way the piano feels while you are playing it. Each part of the piano is made of wood and wool/felt with some metal parts. On occasion the metal part needs small amounts of dry lubricant which can be applied by a technician only to help the parts move more freely.

At PianoSD.com we employ Accutone Piano Service, Paul McCloud who is a certified technician and can do this type of procedure where he takes each of the 88 keys and weighs them to be sure the down weight (the amount of weight it takes to push the piano key) is correct. He also measures the up weight (the velocity the key returns to its correct position) and makes adjustments where necessary. This can be a very tedious process because the piano technician has to insure that each piece of the piano is free to move. Dry lubricant has to be applied at the right pivot points in order to obtain the maximum benefits for the piano.
As I said in my opening that regulation will not change the tone of the piano although it may appear to if you had a completely unregulated piano to start with and the technician brings it back to its proper regulation. Paul McCloud of Accutone Piano Service here in Mission Valley at PianoSD.com will take each key individually and begin the process of being sure that each key not only weighs the right weight but, also the keys are free to move up and down and the hammers are free to move and play.
A proper regulation should take a couple of days 8-12 hours to complete if it is in really bad condition but after that the piano will most likely fell better than the day it was delivered to your home. It will feel much more balanced and almost alive. You can reach Paul McCloud of Accutone Piano Tuning at www.pianoservsd.com.
If you have questions regarding piano regulation I would be glad to help you.
Stop by sometime we would love to meet you

Ric Overton and Emmy Award winning Scott Houston at PianoSD.com in Mission Valley, San Diego Ca.
Yesterday was a blast with Scott Houston talking about the Play Piano in a Flash classes here at PianoSD.com in Mission Valley, San Diego, Ca.
Scott was in town yesterday having done a presentation for NAMM to the Piano Manufacturers Association he asked to come and visit and he and I decided to make an event out of his time here. He greeted customers and talked to them about the Play Piano in a Flash program and how much fun people are having across the country learning to play. He emphasized the fun of learning to play and how simple it is to learn to play piano when you are given the right set of instructions.
As many of you know we also do a Streaming show called Live@PianoSD which you can access through our new website www.PianoSD.com and click on the icon Live@PianoSD . Scott took the time yesterday to do this with me and it was great to have a small snipet about what he does on PBS every week. Scott is a 4 time Emmy Award winner and is going into his 14th season with PBS teaching people all over the nation and internationally how to play the piano.
Scott’s love for our industry and his willingness to help manufacturers, retailers promote the music business is fantastic coupled with the drive he has to help average people discover thier dream of learning to play the piano is obvious in his exuberance. I hope you get a chance to watch the show on Live@PianoSD as well as your local PBS station simply entitled, Scott Houston The Piano Guy or look for Play Piano In A Flash.
Drop by and see us sometime we would love to meet you.

Afte many months of work Max of MaxMorganDesign.com has finished and this is the first post.
As some may have realized by now I am not always the easiest person to understand but, Max was able to see through all the cobwebs and get a great looking site from my mind. His ability to interpret my brainwaves is amazing. I don’t know if its a good thing or bad thing (probably the latter)(for him at least) that he can actually read my mind now.
As a result the website is up and running and we sincerely hope you approve. Take a look when you have a chance and tell me what you think.
www.PianoSD.com
In addition to the launch of the new site we are also announcing the beginning of the PianoSD.com School Of Music. We are teaching Scott Houston’s Play Piano In A Flash in a group setting as well as private instruction with our teacher Marko Paul.
If you have a chance drop by PianoSD.com in Mission Valley in San Diego, Ca. We would love to meet you and show you our Sheet Music Department, the PianoSD.com School of Music and the Performance Hall.
See you soon.
