Recitals and Performances

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

We have had three recitals and a performance today and it has been incredible.  It is always such a pleasure to hear new talent and see the kids as they progress in their education.  PianoSD was founded on a dedication to music education and we are very happy to see that begin to flourish in San Diego.

When you sit back and realize that  the value center for all music that we hear today comes from music education it help you see just how important recital time is.  Its from these small concerts and performances that the great artist get thier earlist training.  Im glad that PianoSD can be a part of that.

Stop by and say hello sometime, we would love to meet you.

Bechstein was in today

Friday, May 15th, 2009

One of the executives at Bechstein USA was in today talking about what’s going on with Bechstein.  It seems that business is pretty good.  Sales are up and the busienss is moving along.  Of course, like everyone else, they are waiting for the economy to change but in the mean time people are willing to buy high quality German engineered and manufactured pianos.  Bechstein is certainly the finest available.

After much discussion today with them, I have decided to teach a few pointers about pianos and the important points one should look for inn a quality piano.  I will start on that series next week.  I will draw from a host of books and reference material as well as some of the best technicians in the city and a few others I know worldwide.  Look for more in an upcoming study.

We always look forward to the weekend.  We have four recitals tomorrow and three on Sunday.  It is always exciting to hear these guys play some of the music they have prepared for the past few weeks and months.

Drop by sometime and say hello.  We would really like to meet you.

Kenneth Broadway, Bechstein, Master Classes

SMILE

SMILE

Kenneth Broadway, brother to Tim Broadway, was here yesterday for a master class for all of the winners of the duet competition from last week.  What a great gentleman he was as well as a fantastic musician.  He listened intently to each performer and critiqued them to assist them with their performances.  I was, needless to say, quite impressed with his ability to help without being harsh and attentive.  It was a pleasure having him here.

While we are on that subject, I must say he was very impressed with the 9’2″ Bechstein piano that he played on.  I really think he was blown away at the sound, clarity and power of this magnificent instrument.  It always makes me smile when I am able to provide just the right instrument for a talented musician who really appreciates the incredible work of art we call “The Bechstein”.  If you have a chance you should stop by and enjoy it for yourself.

Classes are forming now for Scott Houston’s Play Piano In A Flash.  If its time to learn or if you just need some private tutoring, please give us a call.  We would be delighted to help.

Drop by and say hello when you can, we would love to meet you.

Back from L A and piano shopping

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

We had a great time in L A yesterday.  We had the opportunity to visit with a very good friend in the piano business at Piano Outlet in Oxnard.  Bob Auletta is a great guy and we had a very successful meeting.

We got some VERY EXCITING NEWS today about a line that I am going to be thrilled to introduce.  Hopefully it will come with a concert and we will introduce something brand new to San Diego.  Thats all about that for right now.  Keep your eyes on us for exciting news.

Classes are continuing to fill up with Marko and has lots of students.  We are continuing to expand our education department and will have even more exciting news about that coming up in a few weeks

Stop by and say hello when you get a chance I would really enjoy meeting you.

This week has been incredible.

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

First off the concerts Tuesday and Wednesday night were beyond any expectations.  The final tallies are not in, but, I think we did great as far as our donation to Monarch School.  I have to say that I was very impressed with the representatives Monarch School sent and the way they presented themselves and the school.  Visit the website and see for yourself.  www.monarchschools.org I hope you are able to help with something special for them.  You will be glad you did.

The C. Bechstein performed awesome at the hands of Greg Watson, but everyone was completely blown away by his talent.  What an increble musician.  Truly the best I have ever seen or heard at the piano.  Besides the tremendous talent it is so nice to see how humble he is about it all.

The Roland Atelier was handled very nicely by Rosemary Bailey.  She is truly a gifted musician and a talent that everyone should experience.  Her incredible ear and ability to follow and lead with another musician was a sight to see.  It was truly an amazing experience to see and hear.  I sincerely hope that next time I can see everyone of you at this event.  Visit Rosemary’s website at www.rosemarybaileymusic.com

Ron Morebello, John Cain and several other musicians and artists were here and could not believe how talented these two musicians are.  I hope to have you a quick video of thier performance soon.  It was filmed and recorded Tuesday night and should be ready soon.

Speaking of performances, we have had some great performances this month and the rectials have been absolutely “off the hook”.

I hope that you will all take a few minutes and drop by to say hello and get acquainted sometime soon.  We would love to see you.
