I cant wait.  I am so excited about the concert tonight.  I have spoken with Rosemary and Greg and they are excited, it is going to be a great event.  You can find that under my blogs or at the front page of under “Magic of Music” banner.

We are expecting a complete sell out.  The Monarch Schools, which can be found at WWW.MonarchSchools.orgwill have some representatives here as well as the Children’s Initiative and the San Diego Chargers.

I am looking forward to seeing you and meeting you.  If you are not able to be here in person please feel free to send a donation check made out to Monarch Schools.  You may send it to our address or drop it by.  If you need to charge your donation you may do that by calling us.  We will forward 100% of those funds to Monarch Schools in your behalf.

Thanks guys-drop in sometime and say hello.  I will report on the concert tomorrow and on tomorrows concert on Thursday.  With two days of events you should be able to make it to one of them.

North Carolina

Friday, April 24th, 2009

I have enjoyed a couple of days so far in North Carolina with my family.  We live in a very small town on the coast and have had a great time visiting with friends and family that I have not seen since we opened PianoSD in July, 07.

We drove to Goldsboro, N C today to Wilbers Barbeque and had the best barbeque in the country.  (sorry San Diego) visit them at order some barbeque sauce, you will be glad you did. I really enjoyed the trip with my Mom and Dad and really enjoyed the good eats.  We had country ham with collard greens last nite and boy oh boy I wish you could have all been here.

The concert Tuesday and Wednesday is growing so, if you are planning on being there, you should call Tim tomorrow and get your reservations in.  A gentleman I spoke with today is sending a check for the Monarch School and wished us well.  I am looking forward to seeing you all then.

Drop by and say hello some time, I would love to meet you.

What a great time we had today.

I was invited to Maderas Country Club for the golf tournament to benefit The Ladainian Tomlinson Foundation.  We provided the Broadmann grand for the tournament reception.  It was truly great to see people raising money for such a worthy cause.  It was nice to meet the Charger players and thier fans.  I really enjoyed being a part of the benefit.

Greg Watson provided the entertainment and, of course, Dick Lewis and his staff were there as well.  I really enjoyed Greg’s playing tonight and I can’t wait until he is in the Performance Hall at the store on the 28th and 29th with Rosemary Bailey who is a fantastic talent herself.

If you are planning to attend your should contact us .  The Hall is filling up.

Hope to see you soon

This past weekend, after some breakfast at Denny’s (OH YEAH, CLASSY), I decided to stop by the place I bought my piano. I’ve been getting a bit frustrated with my piano lately – there’s a piece I’m working on, but the tones keep getting muddied pretty horribly. I didn’t know if it was me, or the piano.

The guy who was working recognized me and was cool with me just playing around on some of the pianos.

After playing for a bit, the owner came by and we started talking.

Apparently, they have a performance hall with a 9 ft concert grand. And the owner told me I could come by anytime (as long as the hall wasn’t rented) and practice on it. Awesome! I got a real palpable sense of excitement from it – plus I felt really honored he would let me play on a piano that costs more than my dream car of the moment (Audi R8). Random acts of kindness rule!

So ever since then (there was actually a performance in the hall, so I couldnt play), I’ve been itching to go back there and play on the concert grand (cross my finger that it’s available this weekend!). It’s been more than ten years since I played on a concert grand … I can vaguely remember being overwhelmed by the power of the concert grands.

I came back that day and just spent the whole day practicing – if I’m going to play on that thing,

So, I’m going to plug the place, just cause they’re fantastic people:

Thanks, Roy!

Happy Easter

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

I certainly hope that everyone has a very happy Easter.

Marko has entered new people in his classes and is growing in the Roland Learning Center it seems like every day.  I have even started the new Play Piano In A Flash classes and that is going very good.  We have lots of very high hopes for this class.

The Concert preparation continues and you will be able to see that on the front page of our website.  I am excited about the Chargers being here.  I know that you will enjoy meeting these guys face to face and get to know them.  They are very interesting guys and I really appreciate thier help with this concert.  Rosemary and Greg are getting ready and things are going very good.  So far we have had people volunteer to help us with the food and reception.  One donor has given a check for $500.00 already and we are looking for more people to do more if not in cash, perhaps some service that could be offered to the Monarch School that would be beneficial to them.

We have even more exciting news coming up in the next few weeks.  I will keep you posted as things begin to develop more as changes and grows.

Again, I hope that you have a great Easter and that you do something fun and exciting.

Thanks for reading my blog and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

WOW what a day

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

First let me say I am so happy with the comments that I have heard today about the blog. I hope people will continue to read because things change daily.

The concert scheduled for the 28th and 29th is coming together rather fast. My hat is off to all the people who have played such a great part. I will be ready to share with everyone who the special guests are for the concert by tomorrow. I can guarantee you will be very happy to hear who you will be meeting that night in addition to the fantastic music you will be hearing.

The artwork that is hung in the Performance Hall has been selling like crazy. We sold 5 pieces so far and everyone is enjoying the great artwork as well as the opportunity to help needy children in San Diego. It has also been fun to help the Childrens Initiative.

Rosemary was in today to meet a customer who purchased the Roland KR-115. She is such a pro when it comes to demonstration. She also shared with me some lesson ideas that she is putting together for a future release. It will be a state-of-the-art idea that will amaze you. I will keep you informed of the progress.

Lovleys Music is doing great business and is growing in thier new location and I am so happy to have them here.

Our Performance Hall is getting booked like crazy. We are getting close to being booked up through July. Amazing when you think that just a year ago we could not seem to get it booked at all.

I hope you enjoyed the picture of the Baldwin R-1 that I posted yesterday. I heard several comments today, “interesting” was my favorite. Its one of those words that could be taken several ways. I will leave that alone.

I wanted to direct you to a new website that I was at today. You should take a look at one of my favorite artists websites.

I hope you have a great day and that you can make someone smile today.

"Interesting" Baldwin 5’8" R-1 piano

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Here’s a little something to start your week out with.  I hope it makes you smile.  This is a Baldwin 5’8″ R-1 piano.  It would be perfect for any home.  Can you picture it in yours?

It will probably make you very sad that I decided not to stock this one but, I can certainly get it for you if you would like to have it.  Otherwise, you will have to settle for something a little more simple.

Have a great day.

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Im never for sure what makes one weekend more special than others for a particular brand or product. It has been digital day here, most of the sales today have been digital pianos. Some days its accoustic other days more digital. Who knows?

I have been working on the concert for the end of the month today. On April 28 and 29 we are going to have Rosemary Bailey and Greg Watson playing a concert here in the performance hall. We are really expecting a huge turn out. There will be some special guests and appearances by some local/national celebrities but, the music will be very, very cool. Rosemary is a jazz artist like no other you have ever seen or heard. Her talent is amazing and you will be shocked at her performance that night. Greg Watson is an unbelievable talent that will absolutely amaze you. His ability to reach into your heart and mind and reach your emotions is like something I have never witnessed before. I cant wait.

They will be playing on a Roland instrument that is a work of art unto itself and
the C. Bechstein 9’2″ concert Grand.

All of the proceeds from the night will go directly to The Monarch School of San Diego. This place is truly amazing. They enroll just over 100 kids that are homeless. It is a treat to be involved with them on this project.

The East County Art Association took their art down today. I will really miss them being here. I hope they will return sometime soon. The Childrens Initiative hung thier art this week to take the place of the Art Association. You have to see the tremendous talent that comes out of the Childrens Initiative Art. You wont believe your eyes.
